Lac La Ronge Indian Band wins big at PAGC rec hockey tournament

The La Ronge 89’ers hockey program was established in 2005 upon the completion of construction of the JRMCC Arena. In honoring our history, the team name 89’ers is used to commemorate the year 1889, the year Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) signed the adhesion to Treaty Six under Chief James Roberts Band.

While it was just one game and one win, it's great to renew our rivalry with the Meadow Lake Broncos that was started a couple seasons ago. The Broncos are a solid, determined, hard-working club and any game against them is a challenge. It's worth noting the Broncos had not lost a game yet this season (3-0). They were also undefeated in league play (12-0) and during their playoff run (6-0) last season as they captured the league championship.
